The big news of the day\u2026\u2026..we finally were able to complete our temporary residence registration.\u00a0 It took about 45 minutes after we arrived at the police station.\u00a0 It\u2019s always a huge relief when we complete that job.\u00a0 The clerks are not overly friendly.<\/p>\n
Judy received a late invitation today to a baby shower that\u2019s tomorrow.\u00a0 Her name had been inadvertently left off the list of the invitees.\u00a0 On our way home from the police station, we stop at Capita Mall and do a little baby shower shopping.\u00a0 Judy finds a great gift, and we head home.\u00a0 Back at the apartment, Judy starts talking about wanting to go see some of the Lantern Festival celebrations.\u00a0 She heard there was some kind of a display at Sanilitun, so we head back out and grab a taxi.\u00a0 It\u2019s a really busy night since it\u2019s the last night of the Lunar New Year Festival, the Lantern Festival, and Valentine\u2019s Day.\u00a0 Traffic is really jammed.<\/span><\/p>\n When we get to Sanlitun, we wander around looking for the display, but it\u2019s not to be found.\u00a0 We settle for some good old burgers, fries, and potato skins.\u00a0 It works for me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We noticed some pretty heavy fireworks as we drove to Sanlitun.\u00a0 As we head home, they\u2019re even heavier.\u00a0 Back at the apartment, fireworks are everywhere.\u00a0 We get surprised a few times when fireworks go off on the sidewalk as we walk by.\u00a0 There are 8 or 9 gate guards at the apartment, but they\u2019re all out by the street watching the activities.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what there assignment was.\u00a0 Maybe they were in charge of fire control.\u00a0 From our apartment window, it\u2019s an amazing sight.\u00a0 Fireworks are everywhere on the horizon.\u00a0 Unbelievable!!!!\u00a0 It\u2019s something to see.\u00a0 It goes on for hours.
