SATURDAY, 2\/22\/14<\/b><\/p>\n
Judy is ready for a little rest and relaxation today.\u00a0 She heads over for a haircut, and I tag along in the taxi.\u00a0 I walk from the Hilton (where she gets her haircut) to the Marriott for a swim session (about \u00be mile).\u00a0 When I get to the pool.\u00a0 I realize I don\u2019t have my phone.\u00a0 I open the iPad to send Judy a text and let her know, and there\u2019s a message from Judy (sent from her computer) letting me know that she also forgot her phone.\u00a0 Thank goodness for all our other techno stuff.<\/span><\/p>\n After my swim, I walk back to the Hilton.\u00a0 Judy is waiting in the lobby.\u00a0 We head out the door, and walk over to Dragonfly Spa.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a few blocks away.\u00a0 Judy wants to try their manicure\/pedicure options.\u00a0 This neighborhood is an embassy\/consulate neighborhood.\u00a0 We walk by the US Embassy enroute.\u00a0 Many of the businesses cater to Westerners.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to kill time in Fatburger and Starbucks.\u00a0 Darn!\u00a0 We buy a few groceries in the downstairs grocery (every mall area seems to have a basement grocery market).\u00a0 Afterwards, we taxi back to the apartment, ready to spend the rest of the day on schoolwork.<\/span><\/p>\n SUNDAY, 2\/23\/14<\/b><\/p>\n Today is a big day for \u201cAnnie\u201d.\u00a0 Rehearsal starts at 9:00am, and finishes at 4:00.\u00a0 The rehearsal goes well and it\u2019s all beginning to come together.\u00a0 There are the usual irritations with student absences, due to \u201cwhatever\u201d.\u00a0 Judy\u2019s been dreading this day, and looking forward to it, at the same time, knowing that they\u2019re going to get a lot done.\u00a0 There\u2019s a huge sigh of relief when she gets home.<\/span><\/p>\n Deb, our Australian friend, is celebrating her 50<\/span>th<\/sup> birthday with a large group of friends from BISS.\u00a0 We\u2019re having brunch at Mosto, a really nice restaurant in the Sanlitun area.\u00a0 I end up sitting with some of the long-timers from BISS.\u00a0 I ask lots of questions about travel in Asia, where they\u2019ve been, what was the best place, etc.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking for travel destinations for our future travel.\u00a0 These guys have been everywhere.\u00a0 There are way too many places to go, and too few holidays<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" SATURDAY, 2\/22\/14 Judy is ready for a little rest and relaxation today.\u00a0 She heads over for a haircut, and I tag along in the taxi.\u00a0 I walk from the Hilton (where she gets her haircut) to the Marriott for a … Continue reading
