Today is the last day for scheduled auditions for \u201cBISS Idol\u201d for Judy.\u00a0 She hears several more accomplished pianists.\u00a0 There are only a few of the students not prepared to perform.\u00a0 The program is going to be really entertaining.<\/p>\n
I have a full afternoon scheduled with guitar club, my two 11<\/span>th<\/sup> grade classes, and then orchestra club after school.\u00a0 With the commute, it makes for a long day.\u00a0 I choose not to swim today.\u00a0 I get to school with no problems or security issues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Since I\u2019m part-time, I\u2019ve never really had a \u201cmusic\u201d classroom.\u00a0 They were going to have one for me the 2<\/span>nd<\/sup> week of school, but it never materialized.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had a room with everything I needed (video & sound), but it was always considered temporary.\u00a0 Since I\u2019ve been back for the new semester, my usual room is full of large tables that are going to be part of a technology lab.\u00a0 The music class has been moved into the auditorium.\u00a0 They installed a new sound system with wireless technology and a huge video projector during the \u201cSpring Festival\u201d.\u00a0 It works great after I figured out how to turn it on and adjust it.\u00a0 It\u2019s more than a regular class needs, but it gets the job done, for sure.\u00a0 Today they tell me next week\u2019s classes will be on the 4<\/span>th<\/sup> floor in the finished music classroom.\u00a0 I\u2019m anxious to see what that brings.<\/span><\/p>\n The school added an art teacher for the spring semester.\u00a0 He\u2019s been teaching the last 8 years in Dallas ISD, in the Oakcliff area.\u00a0 Apparently, he\u2019ll be teaching some 10<\/span>th<\/sup> grade classes, and also will pick up 11<\/span>th<\/sup> grade students from my music classes.\u00a0 One of my classes goes from 31 students down to 14.\u00a0 The other class reduces from 32 students to 23.\u00a0 It makes an immediate difference in the class management scheme.\u00a0 The reduced student numbers are so much easier to control.\u00a0 I had to be pretty aggressive to keep control some days.\u00a0 The students were never malicious, just talkative.<\/span><\/p>\n After school, the orchestra club students begin to come in.\u00a0 Several don\u2019t have their instruments, so today will be discussion.\u00a0 Rehearsals will begin next week.\u00a0 I try to quiz them about their performance while I was in the US during Christmas.\u00a0 Not much in the way of answers.\u00a0 Some indicate it was\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Today is the last day for scheduled auditions for \u201cBISS Idol\u201d for Judy.\u00a0 She hears several more accomplished pianists.\u00a0 There are only a few of the students not prepared to perform.\u00a0 The program is going to be really entertaining.
