<\/a><\/p>\nAfter the haircut, I head back up the street to the embassy area.\u00a0 Many more police around, as well as cameras.\u00a0 I take up a position across the street, just curious.\u00a0 It\u2019s not too long before they start moving us down the street.\u00a0 I see all kinds of busses at the other end of the street, and it\u2019s taped off.\u00a0 Ambulances are pulling in and parking, like they\u2019re getting ready for something.\u00a0 We keep getting encouraged to move down the street.\u00a0 Finally, a group comes into view from the other end.\u00a0 They\u2019re carrying signs, but they\u2019re in Chinese, so I still don\u2019t have it figured out.\u00a0 They turn off the main street.\u00a0 When I check out Google Maps on the iPad, I notice the Malaysian Embassy is down that street.<\/span><\/p>\n The story is that the protesters were surviving family members of the Malaysian plane disappearance.\u00a0 They were told last night, officially, that all data pointed to the plane crashing, and they should accept the fact that their loved ones weren\u2019t going to return.\u00a0 They met this morning at the Lido Hotel, where they had been staying and attending update meetings.\u00a0 They loaded buses for a trip to the Malaysian Embassy.\u00a0 The busses were blocked from departing the hotel by the police, so the families decided to walk.\u00a0 It\u2019s about 4 kilometers.\u00a0 They walked down a very busy street, shutting down traffic, and turned onto Embassy Row.\u00a0 Before they arrived, another 3 bus loads of police arrived and unloaded.\u00a0 We\u2019re so far away by now that I can\u2019t see much, but all the excitement is interesting.\u00a0 I\u2019m curious how the police would handle crowds like this.\u00a0 They did a good job.\u00a0 Everytime I was \u201cencouraged\u201d to move, they were polite.\u00a0 The only problems I saw were when people tried to push past them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Haircut time today!\u00a0 I go over the Marriott early to swim, and then walk the \u00bd mile down the street to the salon.\u00a0 This is the embassy neighborhood, and I pass the American Embassy, also France, Israel, and India.\u00a0 At … Continue reading <\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n
