I have to begin entering comments for my students.\u00a0 Student reports will be distributed soon after the mid-term exams.\u00a0 BHSFIC just started a web=based grade reporting system, so there are quirks that need to be worked out.\u00a0 One of the quirks is that each student has a \u201cWestern\u201d name, but their online identity is Chinese.\u00a0 We can only identify them by referencing their student id# which takes a long time.\u00a0 An alphabetized list won\u2019t work<\/span><\/p>\n We leave around 5:30 to travel to Lili\u2019s American Diner (LAD).\u00a0 It\u2019s a \u201chole in the wall\u201d restaurant specializing in burgers and other assorted western foods.\u00a0 We\u2019re meeting a group from BISS.\u00a0 Nationalities at dinner include, England, Canada, Korea, Australia, Israel, and of course, the US.<\/p>\n I didn\u2019t mention this in yesterday\u2019s blog, but Arvis, Kyra\u2019s Latvian husband talked at dinner last night about the Ukraine problem.\u00a0 He grew up in the soviet system in Latvia, and has many Russian friends.\u00a0 For me, it was really interesting hearing about the difficulties he has experienced talking to his friends of many years who still live in Russia and how polarized politically they have become.<\/span><\/p>\n Dani, the BISS secondary principal rode with us to dinner last night, and talked about her new job.\u00a0 She will be an administrator at an international school in Prague, Czechoslovakia.\u00a0 She had to get the original copies of her university diplomas verified with an Australian government stamp, and then shipped to her new school.\u00a0 She previously thought a Chines visa was tough to get, but it\u2019s nothing like the \u201cred tape\u201d she\u2019s experienced in the Czech Republic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The morning starts slowly as we recover from our big night at the opera.\u00a0 Judy has lots of essay grading to complete.\u00a0 Then she has to write comments for all her students.
