It\u2019s another \u201cSpiderman\u201d day.\u00a0 <\/span>I received a call yesterday from Lisa, our real estate liason\/agent.\u00a0 <\/span>She told me our landlord had completed the purchase of a new air-conditioner for our bedroom, and wanted to have it installed today.\u00a0 <\/span>The \u201csooner the better\u201d I said, so they\u2019re coming sometime later today.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ve had problems with that particular air-conditioner since we moved in, and we\u2019re finally going to get it fixed.<\/p>\n

The installation crew, a manager, and the unit all arrive at the same time, around 11:30am.\u00a0 <\/span>They start looking around for the access panel to take the old one out, and Lilly and I get to explain there is no access panel.\u00a0 <\/span>They start looking out the window, and we can see this is not a crew that will work out on a ledge.\u00a0 <\/span>Eventually, Lilly, Lisa, the manager guy, and I work out that the UHN \u201cspiderman\u201d will take a look at it.\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019s the guy who\u2019s charged it with coolant a couple of times before.\u00a0 <\/span>He shows up, and let\u2019s us all know that he can install it.\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019ll come back around 4:00 with a helper, and get it done (it\u2019s 1:00 pm when this all gets solved.)\u00a0 <\/span>The manager leaves, Lilly goes back to work, and I head over for a swim.<\/p>\n

The installer and the manager show up shortly after 4:00 and the work starts.\u00a0 <\/span>My curiosity is pretty high, since I wouldn\u2019t even crawl out on that ledge, much less try to maneuver a heavy air-conditioner.\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019s got it figured out, though.\u00a0 <\/span>He manages to get it pulled out, and slides it along the ledge with help from his helper.\u00a0 <\/span>They lift it up through the window.\u00a0 <\/span>Then he spends time prepping the new unit, and moves back to window, reversing the process.\u00a0 <\/span>They lift it out the window after tying ropes on it, then slide it over to it\u2019s destination.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t know how he lifted it up while hanging on that ledge.\u00a0 <\/span>It was too crowded around the window for me to get a view.<\/p>\n

He eventually completed the outside work, and came inside to finish up the indoor part of the installation.\u00a0 <\/span>After some drilling, hammering, measuring, and all the other things that go along with replacements like this, I get the message that he\u2019ll be back in an hour with a part he needs to finish.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s six o\u2019clock, so we\u2019ll look for him around 7:00.\u00a0 <\/span>You can guess!\u00a0 <\/span>No one shows up.\u00a0 <\/span>Finally, Judy and I give up around 9:00pm.\u00a0 <\/span>We put our bedroom back together so we can sleep, and shut it down for the day.\u00a0 <\/span>I guess I\u2019m going to be tied to the apartment for another day, or at least until he gets back.\u00a0 <\/span>If I don\u2019t stay on this, it could take a week before we get it finished.\u00a0 <\/span>I hope he hasn\u2019t forgotten about us.<\/p>\n
