She goes over for a haircut later, and I get in a swim session. Afterwards we meet at Fatburger for lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal for today is to try and find a good place to take our kids to visit and eat their first night in Beijing. They\u2019ll have just finished an 18-hour trip from DFW, and may want to crash. Or they may want to \u201chit the town\u201d, or and get something to eat. We travel over to Sanlitun, looking for some good places to visit, and an interesting place to eat. We found some places we like, and finish the evening off with a nice meal at Taverna in \u201c1949\u201d, an enclosed courtyard area with several nice restaurants inside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUNDAY, 6\/8\/14<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today, we go on a search for the \u201c798 Arts District\u201d. We\u2019ve heard it\u2019s a really \u201ccool\u201d area to visit, with museums, shops, and cafes. We went looking for it a few weeks ago, but couldn\u2019t find it. We found it today, but it took a confused search. A taxi dropped us on an unfamiliar street, and we walked around a while before noticing an intersection with a lot of taxis hanging out. We walked up the street, and voila\u2019, the \u201cArts District\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_1032.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1477\" src=\"http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_1032-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1032\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_1032-224x300.jpg 224w, http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_1032-764x1024.jpg 764w, http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_1032-624x835.jpg 624w, http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_1032.jpg 1936w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a beautiful evening, cool and clear. It rained earlier in the day, and the pollution level was as low as we\u2019ve seen it in Beijing since we arrived.
