Big day for Judy and BISS.\u00a0 New students and parents get to visit this afternoon.\u00a0 The morning will be spent completing planning for next week, and the visits begin after lunch.<\/p>\n

I spend the day listening to the Rangers beat the Angels, and ordering groceries online.\u00a0 The delivery is free.\u00a0 The groceries seem to be priced about the same as in Texas.\u00a0 They\u2019re cheaper in the store, but that involves two taxi rides and lots of time and carrying some heavy loads into the apartment.\u00a0 The online ordering goes well.\u00a0 Delivery is confusing.\u00a0 The driver calls before arriving.\u00a0 Since I have no Chinese skills, I\u2019m not sure what was said or asked.\u00a0 About an hour later, the delivery arrives.\u00a0 SUCCESS!\u00a0 I\u2019m baad!<\/p>\n

Judy gets home, excited about the day.\u00a0 She had several opportunities to interact with new students.\u00a0 Even had a few singing sessions with some of the classes that came through.\u00a0 Kids started off timid, but after they warmed up, they had a blast, and so did Judy.<\/p>\n

Some of the BISS teachers are getting together for dinner, and we join them at Bluche.\u00a0 Have a really good hamburger, and discussion breaks out about the best burgers in Beijing.\u00a0 This reminds me of DFW before we left.\u00a0 Several of the teachers are bragging on how great Judy handled the kids when they came through. They each also mentioned they had never seen the room look so good.\u00a0 Blah, blah, blah!\u00a0 It\u2019s the same old thing!<\/p>\n

The group of teachers are mostly from Australia, two from the US, and a Brit.\u00a0 Spouses are here also, \u201ctrailing spouse\u201d husbands, like me.\u00a0 It\u2019s really interesting hearing their stories about international teaching, and how they arrived at the decision to teach overseas.\u00a0 A couple of the group play golf, so maybe I\u2019ve made a connection.\u00a0 Life is looking up!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
