I enjoy a late start to the day.\u00a0 After spending some time googling \u201cChinese translation for the air-conditioner remote\u201d (I’m still not sure what all the buttons mean), I head out to for the train and B4.\u00a0 I\u2019m meeting Amy Song, the assistant to the principal, and going to the Passport Office.\u00a0 My \u201cForeign Expert Certificate\u201d is completed, and I\u2019m eligible to apply for the multiple entry \u201cZ Visa\u201d, good for a year.\u00a0 (my current visa is only good for 30 days and a single entry).\u00a0 There sure is a lot of paperwork for working in China.<\/p>\n
Similar to the Texas DMV offices, we get a number and wait our turn.\u00a0 An hour later we are walking out, application finished.\u00a0 Now all I have to do is return in 3 weeks, pay 400y (around $65), and pick up the new visa.\u00a0 Amy drives me back to the apartment.\u00a0 I pick up a few groceries, and begin to get ready for a staff party at BISS.<\/p>\n
The staff at BISS has a full-blown meal at the school, scheduled for 5:00.\u00a0 I arrive on time, meet Judy in her room and head down to the cafeteria.\u00a0 It is truly an international group.\u00a0 I\u2019m hearing so many accents as I walk through the room.\u00a0 Everyone is talking about their summer travel.\u00a0 I\u2019m beginning to get \u201ctravel fever\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 Our first break is the first week of October.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019ll start checking destinations next week.<\/p>\n
An Indian restaurant is catering and it\u2019s great!\u00a0 It\u2019s my first time and it won\u2019t be my last.\u00a0 It looks a little different, but tastes similar to good ol\u2019 \u201crice and beans\u201d, at a Mexican restaurant.\u00a0 After dinner and lots of interesting conversation, we head back to Judy\u2019s room.\u00a0 We finish putting up some bulletin boards so she won\u2019t have to come back to school this weekend.\u00a0\u00a0 Out the door around 9:30 and we grab a taxi for the ride home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
