{"id":325,"date":"2013-08-22T17:29:20","date_gmt":"2013-08-22T10:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/?p=325"},"modified":"2013-08-22T17:29:20","modified_gmt":"2013-08-22T10:29:20","slug":"tuesdaywednesday-820-2113","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/?p=325","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday\/Wednesday, 8\/20-21\/13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>TUESDAY, 8\/20\/13<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Our ayi (maid) is returning today, so I\u2019ve got to get some supplies and make a decision about a vacuum cleaner.\u00a0 It\u2019s a nice morning as a head out.\u00a0 I walk about a mile to an appliance\/electronics store.\u00a0 One thing I hadn\u2019t been able to see from the road driving by was that the building was being renovated, so it\u2019s closed.\u00a0 I turn around and head back to Carrefour, the grocery\/housewares store nearby.\u00a0 I need a few groceries anyway, and they do have a selection of vacuums, and the blank cd\u2019s I\u2019m also supposed to pick up.<\/p>\n<p>I settle on a vacuum, grab some groceries, and head home.\u00a0 I get things unpacked and put away, and start duplicating 40 CD copies of the music for the BISS Elementary Choir before Lillie arrives.\u00a0 She hits the door running, and the apartment looks great when she leaves 4 hours later.\u00a0 Everything seems so much more like home when it\u2019s really clean.<\/p>\n<p>Judy comes in tired and frustrated.\u00a0 She\u2019s a \u201cnewbie\u201d, and teaching is the easiest thing she&#8217;s done all day.\u00a0 The technology and paperwork is confusing, and like most schools, finding who to go to when you need something, seems like you\u2019re chasing your tail.\u00a0 Pre-K is still not under control, but a few things \u201cclicked\u201d today in class that may work out for the future.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner is sandwiches and chips.\u00a0 I found some Tostitos and Ruffles today in the grocery, and we are \u201cchowing down\u201d.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got to quit buying chips (they sure taste good), and get back to a better diet.\u00a0 More apples\/grapes and fewer tortillas and cheese would be a great start.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>WEDNESDAY, 8\/21\/13<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I spend most of my day \u201cpitching\u201d ideas to myself about what I want to teach and how I\u2019m going to approach the class.\u00a0 About the time I\u2019ve got a plan figured out, I get another brilliant idea or direction.\u00a0 I basically have nothing by the end of the day.\u00a0 Some calls and emails from BHS4, and I find out my classes will be Wednesday and Friday. I\u2019ll be teaching two classes each day of 30 students each.\u00a0 My ASA (After School Activity) will be Wednesday.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also requested speakers and some type of device to play the music with.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what I\u2019m going to have in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Judy had fun with her Elementary Choir at their first rehearsal today.\u00a0 The students were excited and learned quickly.\u00a0 They\u2019ll have one more rehearsal and then perform at the assembly, Friday, Aug. 30.\u00a0 The principal and a few teachers drop by while the group is rehearsing.\u00a0 They are \u201cover the top\u201d impressed.\u00a0 For Judy, it\u2019s just \u201cbusiness as usual\u201d.\u00a0 Her day ends with a faculty meeting followed by more additional training for the newbies\u2026\u2026.YEA!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an interesting dynamic when she gets home.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been talking to myself all day, and need to bounce my ideas off someone.\u00a0 She\u2019s been talking music and teaching all day, and well into the late afternoon. \u00a0After the &#8220;newbie&#8221; meeting, she\u2019s wants to \u201cbounce something off someone, and she isn\u2019t talking about ideas\u201d.
