Judy had a payday last Friday.\u00a0 I asked her when she got paid, and she had no idea?\u00a0 Friday night, several of the \u201cold-timers\u201d were talking about getting paid, so I tried to find out.\u00a0 The \u201cBank of China\u201d has online banking, but you can\u2019t access it through a Mac computer.\u00a0 No problem, we can use computers at her school.\u00a0 Oops, they all are Mac, also.\u00a0 Oh well, everyone at my school has been talking about picking up their school PC.\u00a0 I find out that as a part-time faculty, I don\u2019t receive a school computer.\u00a0 Stymied!<\/p>\n

I was able to use her \u201cdebit\u201d card and find out the balance on the account, and she did get paid.\u00a0 Since so much of what we do here is cash transactions, the debit card works fine, but I\u2019m not sure I\u2019ll be able to transfer monies around?\u00a0 My school uses Bank of Beijing, so we\u2019ll have a 2nd<\/sup> bank to deal with.\u00a0 In some of the early meetings at Judy\u2019s school, she was told BISS would get an account at another bank that was easier to use for moving money out of the country.\u00a0 Most of the BISS faculty is paying bills in their home country, as well as Beijing, so accessing their money is a major issue.\u00a0 Three different banks, and I can\u2019t read any of their websites.\u00a0 Sounds like a challenge to me!<\/p>\n

I spend Monday working on a powerpoint for my classes this week.\u00a0 As with most things \u201ccomputer\u201d, I can figure it out, but it takes time.\u00a0 Judy has used the program a lot, so I save up my questions, and get her solutions when she gets home.<\/p>\n

I opted out of attending the Monday morning flag-raising at BHSFIC.\u00a0 I had no classes, but was curious and wanted to observe.\u00a0 It was just too much time wasted for the reward.\u00a0 As it turned out, they didn\u2019t have the ceremony.\u00a0 Not sure what happened, but I\u2019ll hear about it on Thursday, when I have classes.<\/p>\n

Judy\u2019s days are becoming a more settled, as she gets everything in place.\u00a0 I went to the Apple Store today to get an iPod Touch for her classes.\u00a0 When she\u2019s running a power point and music off the same computer, it takes too long to move from one program to another.\u00a0 Elementary kids won\u2019t sit still long enough.\u00a0 She has to get their attention and hold it, and they don\u2019t have the needed patience while she moves in and out of iTunes.\u00a0 Also, every email or calendar reminder pops up on the screen.\u00a0 She\u2019s never been too keen on the student body knowing when her next haircut was scheduled.<\/p>\n

I rewarded myself with lunch while I was out, and found another Mexican food restaurant, \u201cQ Mex\u201d.\u00a0 Check out the chili relleno below.\u00a0 It was good, and they also served tostado chips and salsa.\u00a0 I stayed a long time!<\/p>\n
