<\/a><\/p>\nAfter lunch, we have an excursion up a different river on smaller boats.\u00a0 We sail through three smaller gorges, but the views are still beautiful and dramatic.\u00a0 We get the chance to see some wild monkeys on the shoreline.\u00a0 Our guide talks about the reconstruction that had to be done.\u00a0 Whole cities were relocated up the mountains, above the predicted water line.\u00a0 That explains why the buildings all look the same.\u00a0 The government came in, built all the buildings, and relocated the townspeople and farmers.\u00a0 I can only imagine the turmoil created by all the relocations.<\/p>\n

A view of one of the rebuilt relocated cities, looking over the decks of some moored cruise ships.<\/p><\/div>\n Back on the cruise ship, we travel through the Wu Gorge.\u00a0 It\u2019s the 2nd<\/sup> of the three gorges. Tonight is the Captain\u2019s Farewell Dinner.\u00a0 All our previous meals have been buffet style, but tonight\u2019s meal will be served as a traditional Chinese table meal.\u00a0 All the dishes are brought out and placed on a rotating disk in the middle of the table.\u00a0 The whole table partakes, spinning the roundtable when you want something.\u00a0 We\u2019re served a huge variety of foods.\u00a0 We\u2019re able to try most of them.\u00a0 They bring a large fish and set it on the table.\u00a0 Our group begins to work on it, pulling the flesh from the bone.\u00a0 One of the Chinese guests removes the skin.\u00a0 I thought they were just cleaning the fish so the flesh was easier to get to.\u00a0 Next thing, we noticed the guest was eating the skin with her chopsticks.<\/p>\n After dinner, we\u2019re told we\u2019ll be traveling through the locks of the Three Gorges Dam around 1:30 am.\u00a0\u00a0 I get up and watch as our boat pulls into the first of the 5 locks that lower the boats.\u00a0 We finally complete the process around 5:00 am.\u00a0 It\u2019s really interesting the process that takes place as we pass through.<\/p>\n It starts the same as Day 1.\u00a0 I get up early enough for 6:30 coffee downstairs, and then Judy and I eat breakfast at 7:00.\u00a0 There is an excursion this morning to another temple.\u00a0 We\u2019re pretty full of temples, so … Continue reading <\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
