Judy is out with 2nd<\/sup> graders for the next four days.\u00a0 It\u2019s \u201cBISS on the Road\u201d, chapter 2.\u00a0 The group visits a park less than 5 minutes from the school.\u00a0 Judy said it was beautiful.\u00a0 It was full of seniors, exercising, doing Tai Chi, playing table tennis, and ballroom dancing. \u00a0The students\u2019 IB project is \u201cCommunity\u201d so they\u2019re checking out local activities, parks, and events.\u00a0 There was a small stage and a group of retired musicians were performing excerpts from famous Chinese Opera on traditional instruments.\u00a0 It\u2019s not planned or scheduled.\u00a0 They just get together and play for their own entertainment.<\/p>\n

Next, the group takes a bus over to the \u201cLama Temple\u201d.\u00a0 Judy says it has the biggest Buddha she\u2019s seen since we\u2019ve been here (no pictures allowed).\u00a0 The students observe visitors burning incense and praying.\u00a0 They finish the day seated out front, drawing the temple.<\/p>\n

My day is spent planning for the BHSFIC \u201corchestra\u201d club.\u00a0 It\u2019s tough finding something for a group like this to work on.\u00a0 The performance levels are so varied.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking for music to challenge the better musicians, but not scare off the weaker musicians.<\/p>\n

I go out on an errand, looking for a pan to make omelets.\u00a0 We bought eggs, peppers, tomatoes, and Canadian bacon yesterday.\u00a0 I just need something to cook it in.\u00a0 We also need mustard and none of our regular grocery stops have it (yellow mustard that is).\u00a0 Carrefour is just down the street, but I haven\u2019t been there since early August.\u00a0 The prices are high and it\u2019s crowded.\u00a0 When we first moved here, Carrefour seemed a long walk.\u00a0 I laugh at myself as I walk it today.\u00a0 My sense of distance has sure adjusted to my situation.\u00a0 I find a pan that will work great, and also the mustard.\u00a0 I walk back and get ready for an evening of vegetable prepping, \u201cHulu\u201d, and \u201cNewsroom\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
