Judy is out with the 2nd<\/sup> graders for \u201cDay 3\u201d of their \u201cBISS on the Road\u201d activities.\u00a0 Their project is \u201cCommunity, Past and Present\u201d.\u00a0 They start off with Kung Fu lessons from a master teacher who comes to the school.\u00a0 Then they get a calligraphy lesson from a renowned retired artist.\u00a0 After their morning activities, they board a bus.\u00a0 They arrive at a park area built near the Olympic sites, celebrating the history and culture of the 56 minorities that populate China.<\/p>\n

Judy said it was about the size of the \u201cCountries\u201d area at Epcot.\u00a0 Each minority had it\u2019s own village\/cultural section, and the students spent the afternoon walking through the displays.\u00a0 Judy was amazed at the size and scope of the park.\u00a0\u00a0 Again, it was another case of a really cool area that we\u2019re going back to visit.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got quite a list developing.<\/p>\n

I spend the morning preparing for our shipment of clothes, teaching supplies, and misc. items.\u00a0 They arrive at 1:00 pm, on schedule.\u00a0 The movers are very efficient and careful as the boxes come in.\u00a0 It takes about 40 minutes for everything to be unboxed, the boxes removed, and the movers are out the door.\u00a0 The rest of the afternoon is spent taking clothes out of bags, and moving them to the room where I think they\u2019ll end up.\u00a0 Until we see everything we have, we can\u2019t make decisions on where it will end up.<\/p>\n

Judy gets home, and after a short recovery from a day of walking with students, she begins sorting and pushing.\u00a0 It seems like half of what we brought was bottles of bathroom stuff.\u00a0 We were told we would have problems finding our favorite shampoos, etc., so bring extras.\u00a0 We did!\u00a0 We timed it pretty well, because we were beginning to get near the end of our original supplies, hauled to Beijing in our suitcases in July.\u00a0 We get enough sorted to find our bed and allow Lillie to clean around it all tomorrow.\u00a0 Probably the only sights we\u2019ll see this weekend will be closets and drawers.\u00a0 Since Judy has 7 plastic totes full of teaching supplies, we\u2019ll be spending time at BISS, too, unpacking whatever we can transport in a few taxi rides.\u00a0 This is definitely a time when having our own car would be convenient.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
