School for Judy over these two day is pretty smooth and normal.\u00a0 Not much \u201cexciting\u201d is happening.\u00a0 I spend most of my time sitting in my chair, computer in my lap, working on arranging a piece of music for the BHSFIC orchestra.\u00a0 I\u2019m getting faster, but that\u2019s not saying much.<\/p>\n
The big news for me is THE WET MARKET IS CLOSED!\u00a0 It is shut down!\u00a0 I guess there were signs up about it closing, but I couldn\u2019t read them.\u00a0 Supposedly it\u2019s going to move to a site closer to our apartment, but I don\u2019t see any land anywhere around where it would fit.\u00a0 I\u2019m really disappointed!\u00a0 I enjoyed wandering through, picking up fruits and vegetables.\u00a0 There were a lot of shops I hadn\u2019t even discovered yet.\u00a0 It\u2019s been fun improving my understanding of \u201cmarket\u201d Mandarin.\u00a0 I don\u2019t speak<\/span> it any better, but I\u2019m understanding<\/span> it much better.<\/p>\n I went over around 7:00 am this morning (Wednesday) to get a few things, and the gates were locked tight.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know it was closing permanently, so I decided to wait a few minutes for it to open.\u00a0 There were street vendors with stuff spread all over the sidewalk, clothes, food, basically everything.\u00a0 All of a sudden, there was a scramble, everyone started packing up their stuff, and one minute later, the sidewalks were empty, and the vendors were all strolling around like they were out for a morning walk.\u00a0 A police vehicle drove up, and an officer got out and started walking up and down the sidewalk, clearing people out.\u00a0 After 15 minutes, the officer left, and the vendors suddenly appeared again.\u00a0 2 minutes later, it was business as usual.<\/p>\n After Judy got home, we met Deb and Graham (Aussies), and James and Erica (Canadian and Korean) at the subway station.\u00a0 We traveled to Lily\u2019s.\u00a0 The restaurant specializes in American food.\u00a0 The burgers were great (jalapenos on my \u201cTexas Burger\u201d), and Judy had a salad like she hadn\u2019t had since we left the states.\u00a0 On our way back to the station, we walked through the same outdoor plaza area we discovered in August on \u201cBurger Contest\u201d night.\u00a0 That was a Saturday, and it was full of dancers, skaters, and singers.\u00a0 It\u2019s Wednesday night, and it\u2019s full of dancers, skaters, and singers.\u00a0 This must happen every night of the week.\u00a0 What a blast to watch!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" School for Judy over these two day is pretty smooth and normal.\u00a0 Not much \u201cexciting\u201d is happening.\u00a0 I spend most of my time sitting in my chair, computer in my lap, working on arranging a piece of music for the … Continue reading
