My clubs disappear when I get out of the taxi (swarmed by several caddies) and I\u2019m given a small leather wallet with an expense ticket.\u00a0 I go into the clubhouse, and they point me to a locker room.\u00a0 It\u2019s huge, and nicely decorated, with leather benches and a huge \u201cbath\u201d and hot tub.\u00a0 I change into my golf shoes, and head back out to the desk.\u00a0 They direct me outside.\u00a0 A female caddie walks up, takes my expense ticket, loads my clubs on a pull-cart, and starts walking really fast.\u00a0 I have to push my pace to keep up with this little girl.<\/span><\/p>\n The “bath” area at the Huanggang Golf Club<\/p><\/div>\n Same as yesterday, I hit the ball really well, so the golf is fun (not frustrating).\u00a0 The caddie thing is nice.\u00a0 She is cleaning my clubs after each shot, marking the ball on the green, fixing divots, and tending the pin.\u00a0 She has the same limited \u201ccaddie\u201d vocabulary of English phrases.\u00a0 Since I\u2019m playing a longer course today, she does have to try to be more descriptive.\u00a0 There is lots of water, and bunkers, and I\u2019m enjoying trying to understand what she\u2019s saying.\u00a0 My \u201cGolfshot\u201d app is working on this course, and her yardage is the same as the app, so I\u2019m beginning to trust her course knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n View from the tee box on #1<\/p><\/div>\n If you look closely, you may see a lot of dark spots. It’s leaves blowing from the trees.<\/p><\/div>\n It\u2019s a glorious day.\u00a0 I started out with a light windbreaker, but took it off after the first hole.\u00a0 Once I started walking, it warmed up nicely.\u00a0 The wind is only slight.\u00a0 The leaves are beginning to change color, and it\u2019s really pretty.\u00a0 On CNN this morning, they were discussing the pollution.\u00a0 The index had reached 371 (highest since July) around 2:00, but a cold front had blown in and by 7:00 am, the index was at 50.\u00a0 It can change that fast.\u00a0 There are only a few people on the course, and they are quick to let me play through, when required.\u00a0 We finish the round in three hours.\u00a0 I began to realize I was tired around hole 15.\u00a0 I end up shooting 86, 14 shots over par.\u00a0 It\u2019s a respectable round for as little as I\u2019ve played, and I\u2019ve walked a long ways today.<\/span><\/p>\n It had occurred to me when I arrived that the golf course was out in the \u201cboonies\u201d, and there were no other taxis around.\u00a0 I just figured they could call a company when I finished.\u00a0 Apparently they didn\u2019t know how to call a taxi, and didn\u2019t have a procedure for it.\u00a0 They kept asking me about my company private car?\u00a0 This took about 15 minutes.\u00a0 Finally, one of the receptionists showed me her phone and there was a listing for \u201cprivate car\u201d.\u00a0 Like an idiot, I asked \u201chow much\u201d, like I had a choice (I did, I could walk).\u00a0 I got a reasonable price after a phone call, and 10 minutes later, my clubs are being loaded in a car while I try to show the driver where we\u2019re going.\u00a0 The drive home was without incident, and I\u2019m home by 2:30.<\/span><\/p>\n Judy has a night out with \u201cthe girls\u201d at Pete\u2019s Tex\/Mex.\u00a0\u00a0 When she gets home, we get to trade stories.\u00a0 She learned a lot more about the people she\u2019s working with and about job searching internationally.\u00a0 Plenty of intrigue exists about \u201cwho might be going where\u201d, and everyone must declare by Monday, Nov. 4.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to be an interesting personnel week at BISS.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" As soon as Judy is out the door for school, I start checking the internet for another golf course.\u00a0 There are several \u201cmembers-only\u201d courses, and some others that are way too expensive.\u00a0 I finally find one that seems to be … Continue reading ![\"Huanggang](\"http:\/\/gordonandjudy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Huanggang-Bath-area.jpg\")
