Judy has a big day at BISS today.\u00a0 She nailed her Clue \u201ctarget\u201d, as he arrived on campus before school.\u00a0 She had to touch him with the <\/span>air-conditioner remote,<\/span> in the <\/span>Pre-K playground<\/span> (just inside the entrance of the school).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He gave Judy his current target, Lara, the first-grade teacher.\u00a0 Judy made the \u201chit\u201d on her, later in the day.\u00a0 She had to touch her with a <\/span>potato<\/span> in the <\/span>staff room<\/span>.\u00a0 Judy acquired a potato, and waited for her chance.\u00a0 It occurred when she found Lara at the copy machine.\u00a0 Judy walked up, tapped Lara with the potato, Lara screamed and ran, knocking off a drinking water jug in the flurry.\u00a0 It made a pretty big mess.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Judy has a problem on the next one.\u00a0 Lara remembers who her target was supposed to be, but she can\u2019t remember the site of the \u201chit\u201d, and she can\u2019t find the paper where it was written down.\u00a0 Like so many brilliant teachers, her head is \u201cin the clouds\u201d on how to better teach her students, but an occasional important detail or two might slip by.<\/span><\/p>\n

I start the day like I do most non-teaching days, reviewing my teaching plan for the next week or so, making sure I have all the necessary resources in place.\u00a0 After some long-range planning, and in need of exercise, I walk over to the Marriott (1.75 miles on my Nike app).\u00a0 I have some questions about their health club membership.\u00a0 I\u2019m also curious about \u201cClub Marriott\u201d.\u00a0 I had seen a brochure on my last visit about free meals and BOGO (buy one, get one free), at Marriott properties throughout Asia.\u00a0 We\u2019re staying at Marriott properties in Sanya, China, in December, and again at a Marriott property in Phuket, Thailand, in February.\u00a0 After getting my questions answered and finding out about the many freebies available at the six different Marriott properties in Beijing, I buy in.\u00a0 I\u2019ve always been a sucker for free, and BOGO.<\/span><\/p>\n

I do some more walking around the area, just curious this time.\u00a0 I find the American Embassy, and also walk by the Indian, Israeli, and French embassies.\u00a0 There are several areas in Beijing designated for consulates and embassies, so if you find one, there is a cluster of others nearby.\u00a0 Security looks really tight at all the sites.\u00a0 With my curiosity satisfied, I head to the train station and home.\u00a0 All totaled, by the time I get back the apartment, I\u2019ve tallied 3.5 miles (I still haven\u2019t begun to convert to the metric system yet).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
