We\u2019ve been talking about trying to find another market for either clothes, or items to bring with us when we travel to the US in December.\u00a0 We\u2019ve heard about the Zoo Market, near the Beijing Zoo.\u00a0 Supposedly this a great place to buy in bulk, and \u201cknock-offs\u201d are easily accessible.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n
We grab a taxi and head over this morning to check it out.\u00a0 We arrive at the zoo, and start trying to find the markets (there are supposed to be several within a block of the zoo.\u00a0 We walk inside the nearest building, and it is definitely a market area.\u00a0 There are hundreds of stalls and vendors.\u00a0 We wander the aisles, and unlike some of the other markets we\u2019ve walked through, the vendors don\u2019t yell at you and grab you.\u00a0 This is much more sedate.\u00a0 Each floor is it\u2019s own area of shopping.\u00a0 The basement is shoes, 1<\/span>st<\/sup> floor is men\u2019s clothing, 2<\/span>nd<\/sup> floor is jackets, etc.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know how a vendor could make a sale.\u00a0 There are so many options for each product.<\/span><\/p>\n None of the items appeal to us, so we go looking for another market.\u00a0 Sure enough, with a little walking we find three more really big market areas, with different levels of quality.\u00a0 These bigger markets seem to be wholesale markets.\u00a0 Most of the merchandise is tied up into large packages.\u00a0 It actually becomes overwhelming, there are so many floors with so much stuff.\u00a0 This will be a good place to come when we have list of needed items, but wandering around is just a waste of time.<\/span><\/p>\n Worn out and hungry, we decide to go to Solana Mall for lunch.\u00a0 It\u2019s on the other side of town, and by the time we arrive, we\u2019re ravenous.\u00a0 I convince Judy to eat at Cabare, where I ate last week.\u00a0 We find a comfortable table looking out on the fountain area and enjoy a relaxing meal.\u00a0 As we leave the mall, we stop at Paris Baguette, an upscale bakery, and make some purchases for dinner.\u00a0 We\u2019ve avoided stopping here on our last 3 visits to the mall, but couldn\u2019t get past it this time.\u00a0 All the displays are tempting and we leave with a full sack of bread and pastry items that should last a week, but will probably not make it to tomorrow.\u00a0 At home, naps and schoolwork take up the rest of the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" We\u2019ve been talking about trying to find another market for either clothes, or items to bring with us when we travel to the US in December.\u00a0 We\u2019ve heard about the Zoo Market, near the Beijing Zoo.\u00a0 Supposedly this a great … Continue reading
