Tonight is a big night for the BISS Choir.\u00a0 36 students are participating tonight.\u00a0 The bus isn\u2019t leaving until 5:00pm, so the students have to be entertained after school, until departure.\u00a0 There is nothing like trying to corral that many students for that long in a small room.\u00a0 Judy has snacks and a movie ready for the kids.\u00a0 The buses depart on time.\u00a0 The traffic is really slow on the 3rd<\/sup> Ring Road, but the group arrives at the Renaissance Hotel as scheduled.<\/p>\n

The hotel had told Judy they would have a meal for the students.\u00a0 Judy expected burgers or hot dogs, or similar kids fare.\u00a0 The hotel turned the students loose in their fancy seafood buffet with no limits.\u00a0 The results were hilarious.\u00a0 A few of the students had every color of ice cream imaginable on their shirts when they sang.\u00a0 You\u2019ve never seen so many desserts on one plate at a few of the tables.\u00a0 The students got their money\u2019s worth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The amazing thing for me about the evening was how well the choir performed.\u00a0 After all the chocolate, desserts, snacks, after-school bus ride and many other distractions, they sounded great.\u00a0 They looked so cute and christmasy (?).\u00a0 The hotel was decorated to the hilt, and the tree was very impressive.\u00a0 It was a great evening.\u00a0 I\u2019ll post pictures when we get some.\u00a0 One year ago, we had no idea we\u2019d be having this kind of a Christmas season. \u00a0December in Beijing, unbelievable!<\/span><\/p>\n

We ride the bus back to school with the six remaining students whose parents didn\u2019t attend the performance (back to reality).\u00a0 It surprises me how much of Beijing is decorated for Christmas.\u00a0 Driving at night gives us a chance to see all the decorations and lights.\u00a0 The kids are all picked up when we arrive, and we\u2019re home much earlier than I expected, ready for some sleep.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
