We have a weekend ahead of us with a new experience.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to attend a performance of \u201cSwan Lake\u201d, by the Kiev Ballet, at the National Center of the Performing Arts (NCPA).\u00a0 But there are things to do before then.<\/p>\n

Judy has a haircut scheduled, and I walk over to the Marriott for my exercise session.\u00a0 We get home about the same time, and each do a little schoolwork.\u00a0 We leave the apartment and taxi to a Marriott near the NCPA for dinner.\u00a0 We have a coupon for a free buffet for two.\u00a0 The food is great.\u00a0 Every time we eat at a different restaurant in Asia, we see something new, either in the preparation of the foods, or an entirely new dish we haven\u2019t seen before.\u00a0 At this one, each table has a small portable hotpot.\u00a0 Items to cook are at one of the buffet stations.\u00a0 People throughout the restaurant are cooking their own fish, beef, vegetables, etc.\u00a0 I manage to over-indulge myself on desserts.\u00a0 I hope I can stay awake thru the ballet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We taxi over to the NCPA and work our way to the entrance.\u00a0 The security is pretty heavy, with scanners, bag x-rays, and electronic wands.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost like the airport.\u00a0 It\u2019s a gorgeous building, inside and outside.\u00a0 We have great seats and the ballet is wonderful.\u00a0 The sets are elaborate, and the dancers are great.\u00a0 This is my first ballet.\u00a0 Judy has seen several Nutcracker presentations through the years in Arlington.\u00a0 I\u2019m trying to take in all the visual and musical moments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The orchestra overall did a great job.\u00a0 They pulled a little in a few spots.\u00a0 I enjoyed watching the conductor trying to isolate the problem and pull the group back together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
