23, 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a very uneventful week.\u00a0 Judy has been teaching her regular classes as well as rehearsing Annie segments every chance she gets.\u00a0 They have rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, and both rehearsals go well.\u00a0 Of course, they\u2019re behind, but when has a musical not been \u201cbehind\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">The Chinese New Year Assembly on Friday is requiring a lot of time from the students.\u00a0 The Chinese teachers at BISS are organizing it, and are taking responsibility for all aspects.\u00a0 Of course, they\u2019re competing for time with the students against the Annie rehearsals to prepare for their assembly.\u00a0 Several students missed Tuesday\u2019s Annie rehearsal because of a shopping excursion.\u00a0 The Chinese teachers took a group after school to purchase clothes to wear in the assembly.\u00a0 Since the teachers involved in the musical had worked hard to schedule this week\u2019s extra after school rehearsals, the sudden decision to go shopping by the Chinese teachers didn\u2019t go over so well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">My week has revolved around three activities.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been walking over to the Marriott and swimming every day.\u00a0 Back at the apartment, I\u2019ve been working on a GarageBand project for the Guitar Club at BHSFIC.\u00a0 They\u2019re working on a tune called \u201cJet Lag\u201d.\u00a0 It\u2019s a really straightforward rock and roll tune.\u00a0 They need a drum track to play on top of.\u00a0 I\u2019m putting together GarageBand loops and experimenting with how to add accents where needed to fit the piece.\u00a0 As with anything I do on a computer, there\u2019s lots of trial and error, and it\u2019s time consuming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">I\u2019m also spending lots of time online searching out travel opportunities for Spring Break, at the end of March.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to have 5 days, and we want to make them count.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been checking out sites in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Phillippines.\u00a0 There are too many places to visit, and not enough time.\u00a0 I\u2019m also trying to follow the political activities in Bangkok.\u00a0 The anti-government forces have threatened to shut down the Bangkok Airport.\u00a0 We fly through Bangkok on our way to Phuket on Saturday.\u00a0 Here\u2019s hoping it doesn\u2019t get complicated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Thursday night is the BISS staff New Years Party.\u00a0 There is a bus from school to the restaurant at 5:30.\u00a0 I take the subway over to meet Judy after the Annie rehearsal.\u00a0 It\u2019s a fun evening.\u00a0 The food is great, and it just keeps coming.\u00a0 There was a video of all the staff saying \u201cHappy New Year\u201d in their own way.\u00a0 There were some really humorous versions.\u00a0 The restaurant had a stage show, that included traditional Chinese dancing and singing.\u00a0 There was also a magician (pretty good), and a juggler.\u00a0 There was girl who balanced and spun big barrels on her feet while she laid on her back.\u00a0 The finale of her act was a huge barrel with one of the BISS staff members (bigger that me) climbing inside.\u00a0 Then she spun the barrel with him inside.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a very uneventful week.\u00a0 Judy has been teaching her regular classes as well as rehearsing Annie segments every chance she gets.\u00a0 They have rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, and both rehearsals go well.\u00a0 Of course, they\u2019re behind, &hellip;
